Spa and Skincare trend of the week -> Rice water for the face and hair.

Rice water has been used for centuries in various cultures for its potential benefits for hair and skin. It is the starchy water leftover after soaking or boiling rice, and it's believed to contain vitamins, minerals, and other compounds that can promote healthy hair and skin. Here's how rice water can be used for both hair and face:

For the hair a rice water rinse after a wash, a hair mask or as a leave in treatments can improve surface damage and increase the hairs elasticity.

Rice water for the face can be used as a toner, face mask and can be used to soothe skin irritations for minor skin rashes or reddness.

Tips:

  • Fermentation: Some people prefer to ferment rice water before using it, as this process can enhance its nutrient content. To ferment rice water, leave it at room temperature for 12-24 hours before using it.

  • Dilution: Rice water can be quite concentrated, so it's a good idea to dilute it with plain water before using it on your hair or face, especially if you have sensitive skin.

  • Patch Test: Before using rice water on your hair or face, it's recommended to perform a patch test on a small area of skin to ensure you don't have any adverse reactions.

So how can an Esthetician work this topic into their educational Reels? Here are 3 video ideas:

  1. Share a video highlighting the benefits or lack of benefits for or against using rice water.

  2. Share the improvements that you have seen.

  3. Do you offer rice water treatments? Share them with your audience in a “How I use Rice Water” in your treatment room.
