Spa and Skincare Trend - Vaping

Spa and Skincare trend of the week -> Vaping, more specifically vape skin.

As you know vaping can potentially have an impact on the skin, although the extent of this impact can vary from person to person. Some potential effects of vaping on the skin include:

Dryness and Dehydration: Vaping involves inhaling and exhaling aerosolized substances, which can lead to the loss of moisture in the body, including the skin. Dry skin can appear dull, flaky, and irritated.

Premature Aging: Some studies suggest that vaping might contribute to premature aging of the skin. The chemicals present in vaping aerosols could damage collagen and elastin, proteins that help maintain the skin's elasticity and youthful appearance.

Acne and Breakouts: Vaping can potentially disrupt hormonal balance, which might lead to an increased risk of acne and breakouts, particularly in individuals who are already prone to these skin issues.

Irritation and Inflammation: The chemicals in vaping aerosols could potentially irritate the skin and cause inflammation. This can cause hyperpigmentation and might worsen existing skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis.

Delayed Wound Healing: Nicotine, a common component of vaping liquids, can affect blood flow and circulation. This could potentially lead to delayed wound healing and a reduced ability of the skin to repair itself.

Skin Sensitivity: Some individuals might experience heightened skin sensitivity due to vaping, leading to redness, itching, and discomfort.

So how can an Esthetician work this topic into their educational Reels? Here are 3 video ideas:

  1. Share a video highlighting the chemicals you are inhaling when you vape.

  2. Share the characteristics of vape skin that you have seen.

  3. Share the expense comparisons of vaping vs. not vaping. For example, vaping costs $X but struggling with your skin and having to see an esthetician for various treatments just to treat the skin conditions caused by vaping costs way more $$$.
